Petie, one of the dogs that
found a wonderful home through
Ahimsa Rescue FoundationWelcome to Ahimsa Rescue and Adoptions. Ahimsa Rescue Foundation is an all volunteer organization that rescues needy animals and adopts them to loving homes. There are no employees or paid staff at Ahimsa Rescue. Ahimsa Rescue operates by virtue of generous and compassionate volunteers who graciously and freely give their time, energy, and resources. They receive NO compensation other than the deep satisfaction in knowing that they are saving the lives of animals who are vigilant guards, relentless messengers, gentle baby-sitters, brave soldiers, hilarious clowns, and mostly, dear friends.
We have beautiful pets for adoption at Ahimsa Rescue.
Our pets usually come from owners who had to give them up for some tragic reason in their own personal lives, like divorce, illness, job moves, etc. Through no fault of their own, these wonderful companions find themselves without a home and with no family to love them. They are very gentle, loving dogs who have been very loved, cherished and adored, and who now want again to be someone’s best friend and to love them with all their heart, unconditionally. Could that person be you?
Sometimes, our dogs come to us from animal shelters when they were lost and found, or turned in by owners who did not know about rescue. Sometimes, we get litters of puppies, and sometimes, we get pregnant mothers.
We provide all of our dogs with the very best medical care as well as behavioral and emotional care. At the time they arrive they are treated for fleas and ticks. They are tested for heartworms, ehrlichiosis & Lyme disease, and started on monthly heart worm preventive. They are brought up to date on vaccinations, and spayed or neutered.
Sometimes, our pets arrive here sick or injured, and we pay whatever it cost to get them well.
After each dog is healthy and ready for training, we begin temperament testing, and follow it with many hours of hands on socialization. Our pets are happy and content. We feed our pets All Natural, Superior Quality pet food with No Corn, Wheat, Soy, Grain Fractions, Fillers or by-products and Naturally Preserved!
We are also available to help you and to answer any and all questions you may have on a daily basis for the entire lifetime of your adopted pet! We’re just an email away!

“We need another and a wiser and perhaps a more mystical concept of animals. Remote from universal nature, and living by complicated artifice, man in civilization surveys the creature through the glass of his knowledge and sees thereby a feather magnified and the whole image in distortion. We patronize them for their incompleteness, for their tragic fate of having taken form so far below ourselves. And therein we err, and greatly err. For the animal shall not be measured by man. In a world older and more complete than ours they move finished and complete, gifted with extensions of the senses we have lost or never attained, living by voices we shall never hear. They are not brethren, they are not underlings; they are other nations caught with ourselves in the net of life and time, fellow prisoners of the splendour and travail of the earth.” ~ Henry Beston from The Outermost House, 1928
