Adoption Tales 2009

Adopted pets and tales from families of some of the pets adopted from Ahimsa Rescue Foundation in 2009

We strive to find the most perfect, loving homes possible for the pets that come into rescue with us.   Our successes are due to the joint efforts of our volunteers and the individuals that adopt and take these deserving pets into their homes and lives.

We love hearing from our adopters with tales and stories of them and their newest family members.   Pictures and "Adoption Tales" may be submitted any time after a pet has been adopted.  Follow up reports, stories and tales are also welcome.  Send your letters to Adoption Tales.

JACK (Formerly Tracy)

Hi Teresa,
Jack (now Tracy) is doing great.  I've discovered that from some former life he certainly knew what a chair was all about because he never sits on the floor at home – he always sits in a chair. He also has started a mole hunt in the backyard.  His sweet disposition is just what you described.  I've also found out he can walk on his hind legs.  He and the cat are getting along fine as well.  He’s also learned to sit already for a treat.
Thanks for connecting us – I'm really grateful.

DIANA and WILLIAM

Hi Teresa! The puppies are beyond amazing, literally. I am so in love with them and so is the world. Everybody stops to ask me what they are. William is the most handsome man that you ever did see. In fact, we are moving to Northern CA so that they can have more room to run wild and free. They are at their happiest when they have room to romp far. They have been swimming far in rivers, eating good homemade food and sleeping with me every night. They are the best cuddlers in the world. Honestly Teresa, they have changed my life and I am SO in love with them. So, we are moving to Petaluma, CA. I am BEYOND excited to live among nature and get OUT of LA. It is going to be a wonderful change. Much love to you and I hope you are well.  ~ Julie

DAISY (Formerly Vivian)

Hi Teresa
I delivered Vivian (now Daisy) to Elizabeth yesterday. Elizabeth cried when she saw Daisy. Said she was more than she ever dreamed of - just adores that dog! After the meeting we all had lunch. Elizabeth was so excited she couldn't eat. She went out and bought a bunch of new dog toys. Daisy now has 15 toys! She called last night and says Daisy loves her new yard and has taken over the house like she owns it. She says Daisy is just a little miracle and she is just in love. Elizabeth's daughter also fell hard for Daisy. Please rest assured that Daisy is totally loved and will have the life she deserves. Thank you, thank you, thank you! The happiness is a benefit that couldn't be bought. You do wonders for the dogs and the people! You have certainly changed my life!!  ~  God bless and love to all,  Nancy

BRUNO

Hello Teresa,
I just wanted to let you know that Bruno is the best thing that has ever happened to us. He is also probably the most spoiled dog you have ever seen. There isn't a day that goes by that Bruno doesn't go somewhere with one of us. Just a few weeks ago my fiance' went to go get her bridal portraits made in her wedding dress and guess who was there with his bow tie on, that's right Bruno was. He is a huge part of our lives and I would have it any other way. I have often wondered what our life would be like without him and I cant imagine. Thank you for all that you do and for what Bruno has brought to our lives.  ~  Thank You, Joshua

AUZZY (formerly Quentin)

Hi Teresa,
Auzzy is doing well. He has adjusted to my other dogs and has now found a role in the family. He is learning some tricks and will be helping Adrian pick up after my other dogs by “putting the toys up” He loves to chase a basketball around the yard. Seems he uses his herding instincts on that! Here are pictures of Auzzy as promised. These are from South Texas!  He is so beautiful and sweet. Everyone fell in love with him instantly!

Cody and a very proud "Mom".

CODY
SAR Dog Extraordinaire!

Hi Teresa,  Just thought I would drop you a note and tell you that Cody did us extremely proud Saturday.

The Crawford County Search and Rescue team put on a mock search Saturday at White Rock.  The scenario was that a man and his 7 yr old son had gone out turkey hunting and had not been heard from. The son was reportedly autistic and would not answer when called (the child was really a dummy dressed like a child). The man had supposedly fallen an injured himself and become separated from the child. They had gone out at 5:00 a.m.

Cody checking his rescued
"child" once again.

We arrived on the scene at about 6:00 a.m. It was raining, sleeting and snowing. Teams were sent out to search the area and found the victims truck. They searched the area surrounding the truck for several hours. The victims were wearing transponders and the teams were trying to locate them using electronic equipment with no luck. At 11:15 a.m. I put Cody on the trail (mind you that although it had quit raining, it had been raining for 3-4 hrs prior to our search).

And a final kiss...

CODY DID IT. He took us straight to the child and was on the trail of the adult when the trail got too dangerous to follow, but we were able to hear the victim calling for help. Another team was below us and our team was able to help guide that team in from above. He beat out all the electronic equipment!! I am sooo proud of him!!! The whole team is proud of him!

I don't know if you remember the bio you had on him but I do. It read "Do you need a guardian angel? I will be you guardian angel - That's me - good dog Cody."  Well he is sure living up to his name!! He really is a guardian angel!!    ~ Carol

CONGO

Teresa,
Congo is doing just great. He is such a loving dog. He is such a joy and has a wonderful temperament. He still carries his toy all the time. Congo and Coco have bonded just fine. Please know that Congo will be treated as a king of the household. Our two older sons came home for the weekend from Dallas and Tulsa respectively just to meet the new family member. Thank you for all you have done for Congo and all the future companions in your care.

Thanks again and may God bless you and your family.   ~ David

DIANA and WILLIAM
California Lady Drives To Muldrow, OK To Adopt Two Homeless Puppies

The puppies after rescue

After searching to adopt a pet Julie Yarnall from Hawthorne, CA, found Diana’s picture on Ahimsa Rescue Foundation’s National Petfinder’s website. Julie fell in love with Diana from her photos and biography. Julie wanted to adopt Diana and her brother William.

Julie, Diana and William

They are mixed breed Basset puppies that were surrendered to the Muldrow City Pound along with their brothers (Harry and Andrew). The puppies were rescued from the Muldrow city pound by Ahimsa Rescue Foundation and taken to a private home in foster care. While the puppies were in foster care waiting to be adopted they were spayed and neutered and brought up to date on veterinarian care. The puppies’ photographs and stories were placed on Ahimsa Rescue Foundation’s websites. Ahimsa Rescue received many adoption applications for the puppies, some from as far away as DeWitt, NE, Austin MN, Aurora, CO and Hawthorne, CA.

Julie submitted an on-line adoption application to Ahimsa Rescue hoping to adopt Diana and William. Julie volunteered to travel from California to Muldrow, OK to meet and adopt the puppies.

California Beach Puppies!

Ahimsa Rescue’s adoption committee proceeded with Julie’s adoption application and contacted her veterinarian reference. With careful consideration by the adoption committee Julie’s application was approved. Julie, along with her friend Alex, set out for the long journey to adopt the puppies of Julie’s dreams.- Julie and Alex drove over 3000 miles/52 hours (round trip) from California to Oklahoma to adopt the precious puppies who were once homeless, unwanted and simply left behind at the Muldrow city pound.

When Julie arrived and saw the puppies she knew. They were everything she had hoped for and more. After a nice visit and pancake breakfast at Ahimsa Rescue Julie and Alex set out in the Westward direction to California. The puppies are thriving in their California home and getting lots of love and great care.
