We strive to find the most perfect, loving homes possible for the pets that come into rescue with us. Our successes are due to the joint efforts of our volunteers and the individuals that adopt and take these deserving pets into their homes and lives.
We love hearing from our adopters with tales and stories of them and their newest family members. Pictures and "Adoption Tales" may be submitted any time after a pet has been adopted. Follow up reports, stories and tales are also welcome. Send your letters to Adoption Tales.

SKIPPER ( formerly Tina) Hi Teresa, I just wanted to thank you for my new home. My new Mom and sister love me so much. They took me to see Dr. Broadfoot. Dr. Broadfoot thinks I'm well loved also. I'm starting to find my way around my house. The food is good and they have a drinking fountain so I can have fresh water any time I want. I have two cat friends - we are working out the details, but they are ok. Sincerely, ~ Skipper W. |

BELLA (formerly Lollie) A SPECIAL FAMILY INDEED! Bella the Deaf Boxer is now Bella, the deaf pampered pet. Bella’s guardian is a deaf lady who teaches the deaf and has adopted a deaf African American teenager and a deaf Boston Terrier. Bella was adopted to Carol Ann Broderson, who lives a 1,000 miles away from Ahimsa Rescue Foundation, but this is the place she was meant to be. Carol Ann, who is the director of the North Side School District “Program for the Deaf” in San Antonio, Texas, and who directs the nationally recognized program “Dancing for the Deaf,” has a special family indeed. After years of living single without anyone to worry about but herself, Carol’s life now centers on giving her daughter and two dogs, all of which are deaf and adopted, a good home. Carol Ann only had to look out for herself. She came and went as she pleased, traveled abroad and ran long distance in her spare time. On workdays, she counseled deaf students. When not at work, she poured her energy into the deaf dance company she formed. Carol Ann’s family of four now includes Terisha, a 16 year old who captured Carol Ann’s heart when she did one-on-one deaf counseling with her; Dallas, the 14 year old Boston who captured Carol Ann’s heart when she found her as a rejected puppy and, of course, Bella the Deaf Boxer. Carol Ann knew when she saw Bella’s picture on Ahimsa Rescue Foundation’s website—white, with one blue eye and one that is brown—that her heart had been captured again. So despite the incredible odds, she adopted another special deaf being to come live with her. Since Carol Ann is deaf and teaches the deaf, Bella now knows all her obedience signals in sign language, including the sign for “I love you.” |

MARY ANN Teresa, I wanted to share with you some pictures of Mary Ann on her first fishing trip. We went to Nocona Texas for the weekend for some fishing and this was her first time on the boat in water. She did very well. We came upon a flock of ducks and they flew over us and she had never seen any before. We thought she was going to jump out of the boat. She had a good time and was tired by the end of the trip. Thank you for allowing us to adopt Mary Ann. ~ Sincerely, Melissa & John

TYLER Hi Teresa, Tyler had
another grand adventure in May this year too! He got to travel all the
way to Chicago to meet a red heeler dog named Charlie that we met on
Dogster.com long, long ago!. My mom and I took Tyler and drove all the
way to Chicago!! Was about a 12 hour drive and Tyler is such an easy
dog to travel with! While in Chicago (actually out in the suburbs),
Tyler got to go to the Dog Park every day and play with all sorts of
new doggie friends! He also got to go to the Dupree County Pet Expo!
He loved the dog park the most! He would run to the gate and greet
every new dog that came in! He was dubbed the official gate keeper at
the park while we were there! LOL We spent quite a bit of time there,
it was just so amazing to see all the dogs socialize together so well,
didn't see a single fight the whole time! He also had a wonderful
visit with his friend Charlie, the red heeler. We stayed at their
house for 4 nights and they became instant buddies! We are hoping to
go visit them again next spring! |

Teresa, Mary Ann has been growing non stop
since we got her home. The last time she was weighed she weighed
41 pounds. She has learned to sit up on her butt. She will do
anything for a treat and she learns quickly. We think she is
part Bassett because of her long body and big paws but not sure
what else. It really does not matter because she is the sweetest
thing ever. We could not have asked for a better behaved dog and
a quick learner as well. Mary Ann went swimming for the first
time last week end but she did not like it to well. She has had
a playmate the last week because my step son's dachshund was
here with him. They had the best time and played all the time.
Mary Ann always followed him around and had to be near him
constantly. Attached are some of the pictures I took of them.
She is a beautiful girl and we just absolutely love her. I can
not thank you enough for allowing us to adopt her. |

JOURNEY Hi Paula, Well I have 2 super happy dogs cuddling on the couch as I write you. They are the best of buddies and I am so pleased how much they like each other and get along great. I house sit each week for a friend with 2 ridgebacks and we were there Sunday til yesterday. Journey acted as though she has lived there her whole life! She takes everything in absolute stride and is ready for anything and everything! She has now met all of my client dogs and after a feisty greeting establishing her BIG little self she is fine and then wants to play. She is so fun and sure of herself. I also have never seen such an athlete before! She is amazing... runs faster than the speed of light, leaps and turns on a dime, and can out maneuver any dog we have met so far! A friend has a huge fenced yard with a sea of lawn and Journey loves our play dates there! She is quite the guard dog and has found her voice in California! We are already learning clicker training and she LOVES training time! She is great in the car and travels so well. She really is just the right dog for Lexi and I. She is so outgoing and loves meeting people. My friends love her too. Thank you again for meeting me and taking the time to make sure we could get Journey on board. She was such the trooper that day. I was very proud of her! It was a pleasure to get to meet you and I will stay in touch and send Journey updates. She sends kisses and says she misses all of you but is having fun in Ca.! ~ Andee |

HILDE Hi Teresa, Things are going well. I signed them both up together for obedience class as Jayce seems to have misplaced his manners since Hilde got here. They mind for the most part, but sometimes it is hard to get their attention when they are too busy trying to decided who is going to get out the door 1st after me. They have settled in quite nicely together and have a routine down, and we walk in the early morning. We love her death. ~ Thanks, Shelley |
HOLLY (formerly Tippy)
Hi Teresa, We just wanted to give you an update on Holly aka Tippy. She's doing very well, we're one big family. She loves to be in the back yard and she begs to go outside just to chill in the grass or the kids little sandbox. Thanks again for giving us a chance with adoption. ~ Sincerely, The Garrett's. |

ANDY (formerly ANDRESS) Hello Teresa, I wish I had a movie camera instead of a camera to show you all the crazy things Andy does. He's settled in really fast and has fairly taken over around here. He's glued to me all the time (separation anxiety). He really is so smart. We were camping in the mountains last week and we went for a hike. I spotted some young cow elk thru the trees. Andy was focused on me so I couldn't get him to look at them. I followed them up the mountainside while making encouraging noises hoping Andy would catch on and track them. That is just what happened. He caught their scent at some point, ran up after them, ran back to me, and barked at me to "hurry up, I'm on to something!". He repeated this several times, smelling their fresh hoof prints, so I know it was no accident. Of course they left us behind soon enough and we went home tired and happy. Andy learns fast and is so happy to be here. I got your yellow envelope out to check on his paperwork you had prepared for us. Andy came over, smelled it carefully, and got a worried look on his face. Then he kissed me all over and would not let me read the papers. In fact he laid on them hiding them from me. I was shocked because it sure looked like he thought maybe I was thinking of returning him. I put the papers away for a minute, held him, and told him how much I loved him; that he was in his forever home. Then he laid calmly on the bed while I looked at the papers. Andy is the greatest, my best friend! ~ Thank you, Monica |

ARIEL
Hi
Paula, Ariel is doing absolutely fantastic. No mistakes in the house.
She is sleeping in my bed at night. We have been going on walks
everyday with our biggest one last night for an hour. We are enjoying
each others company very much. |

BUNKER Hello Teresa, Bunker is
doing great. He is a big baby. He still gets in my lap when I sit in
the floor. He doesn't realize that he is getting WAY too big for that.
But of course I encourage him. He weighs 65 lbs now and is growing
like a weed. They say he'll hit 75 to 80 lbs. He loves to walk and
ride. He is fast becoming spoiled so he fits in the with rest of the
kids. He is fantastic. He is amazing. He got too rough with Jadee the
other day, knocking her down. She started crying and he sat
beside her and didn't move until she stopped crying. It was so sweet.
He felt bad. He is a Great boy. |

XAVIER Hi Teresa, Xavier is working out so well for our family. We think he is really a smart dog. The boys really need a "rough and tumble" kind of dog like Xavier. He is active, but not hyper. The boys are absolutely crazy about Xavier. They take turns holding him in their lap while they do their homework. ~ Medessa |

GRAYSON (formerly
Webster) Click the photos for larger views which will open in new windows.
![]() Grayson and family ~ Grayson was adopted in 2007 from Ahimsa Rescue Foundation Hi Teresa, Grayson has been doing very well. I also adopted a little female Weimaraner named Riley. They have become BEST friends and play nonstop. They definitely help keep each other company while I’m at work. We’re one big happy family now! Grayson and Riley will be starting obedience training in a few months. They are fast learners. I feel they will do well. I’ll definitely give Grayson a BIG kiss from you. He’s my big kisser/cuddle bug! We had a wonderful first Christmas together. Santa brought huge stockings full of goodies! Grayson and Riley have filled my life with such joy and love. I can’t imagine my life without them now. I’m truly blessed! ~ Kara |

ABBY (formerly Dominique) My grandparents love Abby so much. She was an angel sent from heaven. They are so happy, and they call me just to let me know if she does something cute. She is so affectionate, has great manners, and was completely potty trained. What else can I say she is just stinkin' perfect for them. Abby has her own spot in the bed, right by my grandpa's head. Thank you again for allowing us the opportunity to adopt this wonderful animal. Abby is a blessing to our entire family. |

ZACH Dear Mom Teresa...don't
tell my new Mom that I have been on her computer tonight but I wanted
to tell you myself about my new home. Chloe and McB are terrific
playmates although I can't understand what those Scotties are actually
saying. I need to BONE up on Gaelic I guess. Still we have great fun,
especially Chloe and I who is really full of herself and thinks the
whole world revolves around her. My new Mom sure doesn't think so. In
fact, I've been getting a lot of extra attention.
